U.S. ENLISTEDMAN’S WAIST BELT AND PLATE

$250.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 31-1580

Bridle leather waist belt and buckle. The exterior surface has cracking and lost much of its original black finish but leather is soft, pliable, and remains strong.  The number “10” is stenciled in black on the inside of the belt. The Pattern 1839 oval US belt plate has a clean face with only a few minor dings. The plate’s reverse has 100% of the lead fill, the tongue and both arrow hooks. Several lines of text are lightly scratched into the lead. Random letters can be discerned but whole names or words are cannot be made out.  A good research project for someone with good eyes.

An original Civil War enlistedman’s belt and buckle.   [jet]
