Black bridle leather, 38” in width, 1.5” in width. Two Strap-hangars, 11 x 22.75” in length, .875” in width. Brass circular disc buckle, with wingspread eagle encircled by 29 stars. Circular, floral adorned keeper. Brass hanger buckles and snaps, all there and all intact.

Leather remains supple and strong, while exhibiting wear, cracking and moderate flaking (exhibiting interior web base in one spot. Stitching remains tight. Brass work in very good condition, displaying medium coppery patina.  Eagle buckle and keeper are clean with crisply detailed.   Highly attractive pre-CW militia sword belt & buckle, effectively dated by the numbers of stars pegged to the admittance of the 29th State of Iowa.  [jp]
