The leather on this box is in good condition. The outer flap has the inspectors stamp and “US” just above the latch tab stitching. There are some signs of a makers mark on the bottom edge of the flap but it is not readable. The latch tap shows some surface finish loss but it is solid. The interior of the box is in nice condition showing hardly any wear. The underside of the outer flap has some white discoloration that looks to be residue from leather preservative. The bottom of the box has a brass pear-shaped finial. The reverse of the box has both belt loops one of which has some surface finish loss. There is a small 5-pointed star stamped along side each belt loop. The leather on the reverse shows a little bit more wear than the rest of the box.
