MAKER MARKED US .58 CARTRIDGE BOX

$480.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 744-66

This box is marked on the side in two lines “C.S. STORMS-MAKER N.Y.” The outer flap is in good condition with just the lightest surface wear. Most of the leather is smooth and clean with very light crackling. The latch tab is solid but has lost its finish. It is anchored to the flap by a line of stitching only. The Pattern 1839 oval US cartridge box plate is original to the box and has a nice even patina. Plate looks to be anchored by the original leather thong.

The inner flap also shows some light crackling with small amounts of surface finish loss in one corner. Both of the ears are firmly in place. The interior has both tins and the implement pocket is present and shows signs of use but is complete. The exterior body of the box is good. The bottom has both roller buckles and the brass finial. The leather is indented under the buckles which is sign of use. The reverse still has both belt loops which exhibit light wear.
