The leather of this percussion cap box is in good condition overall. The outer flap has large embossed, “US” with the Ordinance Department stamp over this at the bottom. Flap shows light crazing, especially at area where it folds. Leather is strong and supple. The leather underneath has a smooth surface.
There is a modern marking, “WPR”, written on the underside of flap. The riveted latch tab surface is similar to the flap surface.

Cap box is Civil War style with center portion of inside flap cut away and outer edges sewn to the body.

The interior of the box does not retain the original fleece lining. The pick is not present. The body of the box is strong and the brass finial is present at bottom.

The reverse has light crazing. There are two belt loops which are stitched and riveted to the body.  [SM]
