Inner stamp: “J. Coogan/ Maker/Boston.” Small oblong box, of black bridal leather, 7.5 x 1.75 x 3.5”, with outer finial and finial strap, inner tin, and two reverse belt loops and grommets. Outer flap exhibits moderate cracking and topside flaking, otherwise the leather is supple in very good condition, with tight stitching all round. Tin displays light tarnish. Else VG. An attractive pre-war/eve-of-war militia box. [JP]
