This is a “McKeever” cartridge box. Complete and original and in solid condition. Black leather box “hinged” at the bottom with a brass rod. Leather closure tab fastens to brass finial on the top. Tab is complete and unbroken. Lightly marked “WATERVLIET ARSENAL” at the base of the tab. Two narrow belt loops sewn and riveted to the back. Oval “NG” embossed on front flap. Canvas loops to hold ten .50-70 cartridges sewn to each half (20 rounds total) for a trapdoor longarm. Stitching remains strong and tight. Black leather exterior has moderate crazing with a few flakes of finish missing. A name, “E.M. Tate” is written on the inside. A good, clean box.  [jet]
