This is a Civil War-era percussion cap pouch. The leather is smooth and the whole piece is in very good overall condition. This pattern has the “square” outer flap with closing tab sewn to the underside. The latch tab is complete and unbroken. The underside of the outer flap is marked in ink with an oval maker’s stamp. The interior flap has both “ears” firmly sewn in place. Complete fleece and wire nipple pick remain. Bottom has brass finial. Both narrow belt loops remain in place on back and are stitched only.  All stitching is strong and intact.
