Leather cap box in overall very nice condition.
Exterior flap shows little wear with a nice surface finish. An Ordnance Department sub inspector mark is strongly stamped on the front. Latch tab is in excellent condition with only light wear.
Interior flap is just as nice with both ears and a clear maker’s mark of “S. H. YOUNG & CO. NEWARK, N.J.”
Box has lamb’s wool and pick on the inside. The body of the box is excellent and shows only light wear to the surface finish along the bottom edge. Pear shaped brass finial is present at bottom.
Reverse both belt loops which are both sewn and riveted to the box. Loops are solid with light surface crazing. [ad]
