Black Bridle leather with securing strap with brass button closure. Sewn belt loop. Because it features an open top and bottom, this is also known as a “pistol frog”. Fits Colt, Remington and other Navy issue pistols. Embossed “NAVY YARD / PHILA / 1863”. Overall the leather is soft and pliable. There are cracks and “rubs” in several places. The strap broke off and the belt loop became detached at some point. Both pieces were stitched back in place. Well worn, but a very displayable and rarely encountered piece.
