Original black bridle leather scabbard manufactured in the United States as a replacement for damaged Austrian bayonet scabbards. An oval instead of triangular body is the notable characteristic of these. The leather body is in excellent condition with a good tight seam running up the back with no scuffing or crazing to the finish. Brass scabbard tip attached with two tacks. Arched leather frog is in good condition with moderate surface crazing. The frog has two rivets and is attached to the scabbard by stitching alone. All leather is in good condition. There appears to be some sort of marking on the frog at the throat, but it is mostly scuffed away. [jet/ld]
