Maker label [interior lid]: "Robert Burr/ Trunk Manufacturer/ No. 9 Hanover Street [Nearly opposite the Shawmut House, Boston],/ Trunks, valisses, carpet Bags, etc.". Made of wood, measures 24" in length, 12" in width, and 105" in height. It has a three sided black leather exterior, tacked round the margins, with bottom left uncovered. Domed lid features a handsomely tacked diamond motif on top, with six small reinforcing metal rectangles. Comes with side latch, end handles, and key lock [minus the key]. Trunk interior papered in beige w/black polka-dots. The exterior leather exhibits slight cracking, and is lightly chipped near the side latch, which is slightly loose. The leather is otherwise tight and in good condition. Interior paper displays patches medium staining, and the wooden support strip along the front edge is loosening. Else VG, and handsome. Exudes considerable character. Solid display piece.
