Thomson’s was one of the world’s largest manufacturers of corsets and crinolines, with factories in the US and several locations in Europe. This corset has a front busk opening, and what may be the original lacing in the back. It is cut with gussets over the bust and the hip; twill tape is added on the wrong side of the corset to control stretch. The corset is stiffened with 40 bones varying in width from ⅛" to ½". Flossing at the top of each casing on the front and sides of the corset helps keep the bones from shifting. Fourteen pairs of metal eyelets, with the two pair sat the waistline spaced closer together.  The top and bottom edges are bound, with the top edge accented with a decorative tape.  Actual measurements: bust 33", waist 23", hip 34".
