Wooden keg dates to about early 1800’s. Standing on end it meas. approx. 6.50 inches tall x 4.25 inches across. The barrel is made up of seven slats of wood wrapped in 3 layers of willow at each end.

One end has a hole approx. 2.00 inches wide with a cork stopper. The face of the stopper has an old handwritten paper label from the early 1900’s that reads “#246 POWDER KEG KKK.” From the style and opening it is not believed to be a powder keg but a container for something else.

Item has a wonderful patina and a overall nice look to it. It is in very good condition.   [sm]
