This elegantly simple dress features a darted bodice, faux 3-piece back, brown cotton twill lining and coat sleeves. The original front hook-and-eye closure has been altered to add copper velvet-and-faille buttons and buttonholes. The trimming of copper double-fold silk bias braid and black lace was added some time after the initial construction. Very fine black silk lace has been added as undersleeves.

The fully lined gored skirt features a combination of box and directional pleats, with a 5" wide section of gauging at the skirt back. The skirt has been altered to add circumference at the waistline. There is a pocket in the right front seam; wool hem braid finished the lower edge.
