Original Civil War non-excavated single artillery stirrup. Stamped on the underside in large letters “US”, slightly smaller letters “Watervliet/Arsenal N.Y.” Letters “P.V.H.” represents the government inspectors initials unknown at this time. Constructed solid heavy brass and weighs approximately one pound. Top of the foot tread are studded for a better grip. Brass surface lightly cleaned.  [ws]
