Offered is a complete set of chess pieces made from wood. The kings stand four inches high and are 1 1/4 inches in diameter at the base. It has a series if ten finely detailed turnings. The white pieces are made from what appears to be maple wood and are stained natural. The black pieces are also made from maple and stained black. All the pieces are turned from a solid piece of wood except for the Knights. The horse’s heads are hand carved and attached to the turned base. The smallest piece, the pawns are two inches high and ¾ of an inch in diameter. The complete set comes in a 4-½ inch by 8 ¼ inch wooden box. It had a sliding lid but it is missing. This is an exceptional functional well-crafted chess set that will display well.
