Nice example of an English imported ironstone covered, ovoid shaped vegetable tureen by the firm of T & R BOOTE. The registered mark located on the bottom dates this piece to the year 1861. The raised decoration band located around the top near the mouth and on the lid is referred to as the WINDING VINE pattern. At the center of the lid is the design of three spread leaves with an upright three dimensional finial of ether an acorn or strawberry. The side loop handles are composed of a leaf pattern turned over on itself.

The measurements are: 12 ½” across from loop handles, 9 ¾” across from mouth opening and lid being 10 ½ “in length by 7 ¾” width. Base/ Foot measurements are 8”in length by 6”in width and stands 5 ½”in height. Both pieces are in excellent condition, but does have two very small chips located at the inner flange lip under the lid and on the under band as well. No body cracks nor hairlines or signs of glaze crazing to the body. Specimens such as this have been recovered from period steamboat wrecks and sunken cargo vessels.
