OLD TIN COFFEE BOILER & PIECE OF HARDTACK WITH LABEL FROM OLD MUSEUM

$95.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 37-376

Tin coffee boiler meas. approx. 4.25 inches across the bottom and is approx. 3.75 inches high. Each side of the rim has a raised ear which holds a wire bale. Approx. 1.25 inches from the rim the body has concentric raised rings. The ring at center is wider than the two that flank it.

The interior of the boiler is fairly clean with a light patina on the surface. The exterior has some signs of having been japanned. The body has one or two small dings. Bottom has a small raised lip. Lid is present, matches in patina but is a tight fit.

Attached to the side of the boiler is an old paper label with the following written on it in pencil “198  MY OLD COFFEE KETTLE THAT HUNG ON MY POLE.”

The underside of the lid has a similar label glued to it with writing in old ink “MY OLD COFFEE KETTLE THAT HUNG ON THE POLE.  NO 198.” Lid has always been displayed off the boiler so the label inside could be read. Label is torn in half vertically at center; there is another tear at the upper right corner, and two small areas of paper loss.

Inside the boiler is a small piece of hardtack that meas. approx. 2.25 x 2.00 x 0.50 inches.

This item comes from an old museum in Hershey, Pennsylvania.   [ad]
