This can meas. approx. 5.00 inches tall and 4.25 inches wide. Top has small circular opening that meas. approx. 2.00 inches across. Exposed tin is dirty with light surface rust. Nice white paper label on front with 0.25 inch letters in white on a green backing that read “FRESH TOMATOES. JOHN W. STOUT, NEW YORK.” Center artwork is a colored lithograph of a large tomato on the vine. Back of label has a large red Roman numeral X. There is a little paper loss but not much. There is some moderate discoloration and the back top is dented. This type of can is often dug in Civil War camps and is seldom encountered with the label intact.
