Dish has a gutta-percha body that meas. approx. 1.50 inches tall x 3.25 inches across. The lid is decorated with a sunburst design with concentric rings at center. The center ring has an anchor and “U.S.N” with thirteen stars. The outer ring has an intertwined rope and the motto “DON’T GIVE UP THE SHIP.” The edge of the lid has a small brass ring attached. Once the lid is unscrewed the two sections have different functions. The lower section acts as a container for shaving soap while the lid has a mirror on the bottom. The lid can be hung on a peg, nail or small tree branch by the brass ring attached to its edge.

The condition of this piece is very good. The exterior is clean and free of chips. You hardly ever see these without chips of some kind. The mirror is cloudy but still casts a reflection.
