Vintage packet of sewing needles, with approximately 15 original needles present. Needles are in great shape, with no rust. Outside of packet is marked, “BLOOD’S, PATENT HELIX, NEEDLES, SHARPS, 9, PATENTED WRAPPERS, REDDITCH, 1863”. Inner fold is marked, “PATENTED, IN THE UNITED STATES, OCTOBER 18TH, 1863, NONE GENUINE UNLESS SIGNED”. There is a signature written over this marking.
Redditch was the hub of the needle industry in the U.K. during the Victorian era.
This is a very collectable item as it is rare to find original packages with the contents intact.
