Waist-up sitting view of an unidentified Union soldier. He is wearing a dark colored frock coat, light colored trousers with Corporal’s stripes. Corporal’s stripes have been tinted blue. There are also Veteran’s Service Stripes on the lower sleeves that were given for re-enlisting.
Under the bottom of mount is a handwritten inscription on CDV which reads, “NIMBLET[?] MONDAY”. There is no soldier history available on this name or any similar. The reverse does not have any markings.
Image is clear and the contrast is good. Surface has some light dirt from age. Image has yellowed with time.
Measures approx. 9 ¾” x 8”. [sm]
