Oval image on 6 ½” x 8 ½” mount. Excellent condition. 2/3 length standing view wearing 9 button frock coat, officer’s sash, belt with rectangular buckle, and sword.. Front photographer’s imprint: James Cremer & Co., Philadelphia. Typed biographical info attached on reverse.

Born around 1836, Justus A. Gregory was a resident of Philadelphia when he enlisted on 12/3/61 as a 2nd Lieutenant; on that date he was commissioned into Co. A, 91st PA. Wounded at Petersburg on 6/18/64. Promoted to 1st Lieut. and Qtr. Master Sgt. on 6/26/64 (not mustered). Mustered out on 6/26/64. Served as a recruiting officer in Philadelphia from July to November 1862; detailed for ambulance duty in May 1863; present at Gettysburg. Served as Aide-de-Camp for his father Col. Edgar Gregory while serving as brigade commander. Detached to recruiting office in Philadelphia again in February 1864 through April 1864. Gregory died on 7/18/1897 in Denver, CO and his buried in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Gregory’s brother, Francis H., also served in the 91st PA.
