This small pocket-sized album meas. approx. 3.50 x 2.00 x 0.75 inches. The leather cover has a raised geometric pattern with gold gilt inlay scroll decorations on both the front and back covers. Leather shows some wear from rubbing and the spine is repaired with cloth tape. Front edge has a working brass hinge.

Interior has twelve double-sided pages that hold four gem type images each for a total of forty-eight images. Presently the album contains 30 bust views of members of the 25^th New York Infantry. All but one is in good condition. The exception has some surface crackling but the details can still be seen. Four of the men wear forage caps with one displaying a number “25” within an oak leaf circle on the front. Also in the album are several civilians of the period.

The album has a split at center and the front signature is coming loose while the back is fine.

Album came out of New York however New York had three 25^th Regiments. One was a two year regiment and the other two were 3 month militias. Which of the three regiments these soldiers are from is not known.  [ad]
