This photographic artifact is a collection of Civil War era CDVs from the Allentown, PA area and gathered together in an original book-like photo album. The album measures 5¼" high x 4" wide x 1¾" thick and holds twenty-four CDVs depicting ten men and eighteen women. Some of the images have handwritten IDs on them but not all. Album is constructed with heavy pasteboard and covered with a thin leather veneer and is held closed with a brass closure clasp. Specimen has twelve hard pages that accommodate the images plus a number of blank pages front and back. Book even has an index page with twenty handwritten names of the people pictured in the album. Most of the CDVs have backmarks from photographers in Allentown, PA who were in business during the Civil War and after. A fine, original photo album Allentown, Pennsylvania.
