CDV album has red leather cover with embossed design on the front and back. Leather is in good condition, with some wear all over, but especially on the spine, edges and corners. Binding is tight but has split from the cover. All pages are present and none are loose. The edges of the pages are gold gilt which has retained its brightness. The album closes with a decorative gold colored metal clasp which is still firmly attached. Inside is a decorative page in gold ink which reads, “PHOTOGRAPHIC ALBUM, PHILADELPHIA: MAHONY & EICKMEYER”. This is followed by an index page, which has no writing present. Album measures 5 ¼” x 3 ¾” x 1 ½”.

Album contains 22 images, as well as six gemtypes. Album can hold up to 24 images. There are a variety of men, women and children of all ages. All of the images have names written on the borders. Album includes two CDVs of Union soldiers in uniform. Sergeant Jarvis Wentworth of Co. “E”, 1st Vermont Cavalry is wearing a dark colored coat with shoulder boards and a Hardee hat with insignia of a 1, E, and crossed sabers. He was wounded in the pursuit of Lee after the battle of Gettysburg on July 6, 1863 at Hagerstown, MD and died on July 17 in Frederick, Maryland. He is buried in Branch View Cemetery in Royalton, Windsor County, Vermont.

Private Jacob Fifield of Co. “I”, 37th Wisconsin Infantry is wearing a dark colored frock coat, belt with cartridge box, light colored trousers and a kepi. He is posing with his Springfield rifle. There is a civilian image of him as well. Private Fifield was wounded in Petersburg, Virginia on June 18, 1864 and died on July 30.

The soldier histories of both Sergeant Wentworth and Private Fifield are included.
