The edges of the pages are gold gilt which has retained its brightness. The album originally closed with two decorative gold colored metal clasps, one of which is missing. Other clasp is still firmly attached.
Album contains 27 images. There is space for 50 images. There are a variety of men, women and children of all ages. Men are in civilian attire. These images are mostly of individuals, but some have family members posed together. Backmarks checked are from New Jersey and Philadelphia.

This is a great album for a collector of Civil War era and post -war civilian images. [sl]
