Cabinet card of a small tabby cat. BM: “Photographerd / by / Ellinwood, / 936 Elm St. / Manchester, / N.H.” Overall very good condition. Light soiling to edges of mount, minor wear to corners & edges.

Introduced in the mid-1860s, the cabinet card gradually superseded the smaller carte de visite format.  The front of the card is usually printed or embossed with the photographer’s details, and the back of the cabinet card is often printed with elaborate designs. Most popular from the 1870’s – 1890’s, they were produced until WWI.   [ld]
