Post-war bust view in jacket, vest and bow tie. Printed on the bottom border of the mount is, “LT. CHARLES E. JONES, Co. D”. No photographer’s mark. Period ink inscription on reverse: “Lt. Chas. E. Jones / Co. D, 2^cd N.H.Vol.”

Overall very good condition; light scattered soiling. Half moon impression on lower edge  of mount.

Charles E. Jones was an 18 year old resident of Milton, NH when he enlisted as a Private on 5/10/61. On 6/1/61 he mustered into Co. D, 2^nd NH Infantry. Promoted to Corporal, 2/1/63; Sergeant, 11/27/63. Re-enlisted on 1/1/64. Promoted to 1^st Sergeant, 7/1/64; 1^st Lieut. 5/20/65. Mustered out on 12/19/65 at City Point, VA. After the war he resided in the National Military Home in Wisconsin.   [ld]
