Post-war bust view wearing civilian attire. Printed on the bottom border of the mount is “SERGT. HENRY M. GORDAN (SIC), Co. E”. Photographer’s imprint on reverse: “W.M. WIRES / 139 BROAD ST. / LYNN, MASS.” Period ink inscription on reverse: “Henry M. Gordon. Sergt Co. E 2nd N.H. Regt / 27 West Baltimore St. / Lynn, Mass.”

Overall very good condition, though image is light and has a mottled look.  Minor wear and light soiling at edges; upper corners either trimmed slightly or with minor damage.

Born in Lowell, MA, Gordon was a 24 year old resident of Pittsfield, NH when he enlisted on 5/21/61 as a Sergeant. Wounded on 7/21/61 at 1st Bull Run; listed as wounded and missing on 8/29/62 at 2nd Bull Run. Gained from Missing, date and place not stated.Mustered out as Private on 6/21/64. Member of GAR Post #5 in Lynn, MA following the war; he died on 5/20/1909 and is buried in Pine Grove Cemetery in Lynn. [ld]
