Image shows a young soldier seated on the arm of a rustic looking chair. He wears a dark 5-button sack coat with fold-down collar and light trousers. He also wears a campaign hat creased fore and aft in the crown with the regimental number “29” over the Company letter “I.”

Behind him is a painted backdrop of a pillar and vase of flowers.

Bottom of mount is embossed “HOLMES, FORT SHERIDAN, ILLS.”

Reverse is stamped “MRS. D. La FLEUR.”

Image and mount is in excellent condition.

The 29th Infantry was formed at Fort Sheridan in 1901 and a year later was sent to the Philippines to fight in the insurrection there.
