Full length seated view of a hunter cradling his double barreled shotgun; also visible is at least one and possibly two powder horns. His trusty hunting dog lays at his feet, and appears to be asleep. He proudly displays his day’s take, which is enumerated on the reverse in period ink – “20 Quail, 1 Duck, / 1 Prairie Chicken / 1 Cotton tail / One Hour apart [?] in / Kansas / Our daily food”.
