She is shown standing by a table holding a bouquet of flowers in one hand and a hat in the other. She wears a white dress with dark highlights. Printed on the bottom of the mount is “FANNIE VIRGINIA CASSEOPIA LAWRENCE. A REDEEMED SLAVE CHILD, 5 YEARS OF AGE. REDEEMED IN VIRGINIA, BY CATHARINE S. LAWRENCE; BAPTIZED IN BROOKLYN, AT PLYMOUTH CHURCH, BY HENRY WARD BEECHER, MAY, 1863. Beneath this inscription is the publishing information that dates the image to 1863. Image is clear with good contrast. Some light surface dirt.
