Subject is posed standing by an ornate high-backed chair. He wears a dark four button commercial sack coat open to expose a matching military vest with a dark bow-tie. He also wears light trousers.
One of the interesting things about this image is that the camera was a little closer to the subject than normal.
The reverse has a collector ID to an Assistant Surgeon in the 195th Pennsylvania that may be correct but there is no way to tell. There is also a back mark for J. C. ELROD’S GALLERY which was located in Louisville, Kentucky and a blue 2 cent tax stamp.
Mount corners are clipped. Image is clear with good contrast.
