CDV is a three-quarter view of Charles D. Watson of the 24th Wisconsin Infantry. He is wearing a dark colored 4- button sack coat and light colored trousers.
Reverse of image is marked with the photographer’s imprint, “LYDSTON, ARTIST AND PHOTOGRAPHER, COR. MAIN & WISCONSIN STS., MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN, NEGATIVES PRESERVED”. Also on the reverse, there is a handwritten inscription at the top that reads, “LT. DWIGHT WATSON, 24TH WIS. VOLS- 1863”.
Image is clear with good contrast. Some light surface dirt is present.
William D. Stewart was a resident of Granville, Wisconsin and enlisted on August 7, 1862 as a Corporal in Co. “E” 24th Wisconsin Infantry. He received the following promotions: Sergeant, 1st Sergeant, and Captain by Brevet on December 31, 1862. He was mustered out on June 10, 1865.
