CDV is a chest-up view of a Union soldier in uniform named Ulric Dahlgren.  He is wearing a dark colored, double-breasted coat with shoulder boards. The bottom of the mount is marked with the handwritten description, “COL DAHLGREN”.

Reverse of image is marked with the photographer’s imprint, “WENDEROTH & TAYLOR, 912, 914 & 916 CHESNUT STREET, PHILADELPHIA”.

Image is clear with good contrast. Some light surface dirt is present.

Ulric Dahlgren was born on April 3, 1842 in Pennsylvania. He was the son of US Admiral John A. Dahlgren. He enlisted at the age of 20 on May 29, 1862 as a Captain and was commissioned into the US Volunteers Aide-De-Camp. He was promoted to a Colonel on July 20, 1863. He was killed on March 2, 1864 at King and Queen CH, Virginia.
