CDV is a waist-up view of a Union soldier in uniform named Albert S. Follansbee. He is wearing a dark colored double-breasted frock coat with a black felt collar and shoulder boards.
Reverse of image is marked with the photographer’s imprint, “N. C. SANBORN PHOTOGRAPHER, NO. 50 MERRIMACK STREET, LOWEL, MASS”. There is a green tax stamp present on the reverse which has been stamped with, “N. C. SANBORN, LOWELL, DEC. 5, 1864”.
Image is clear with good contrast. Some light surface dirt is present.
Albert S. Follansbee was born on April 7, 1824 in MA and enlisted on April 22, 1861 as a Captain in Co. “C”, 6th Mass Infantry. He was then promoted to a Colonel on August 15, 1862 and mustered out on October 27, 1864. He died on March 31, 1891 in Chicago, IL and is buried in Mount Prospect Cemetery in Amesbury, MA.
