CDV is a full-standing view of Private Daniel Donoghue. He is wearing a dark colored shell jacket, light colored vest and trousers, and dark colored kepi.

Reverse does not have a photographer’s imprint.

Image is clear and the contrast is good. Surface has some light dirt from age.

Daniel Donoghue enlisted at 32 years old on July 22, 1863 at Scipio, New York as a private. On September 3, 1863 he was mustered into Co. “E”, 9th NY Heavy Artillery. He was discharged for disability on March 11, 1865 at Albany, New York.

Accompanying this CDV is a handwritten desertion receipt which reads, “FORT REYNOLDS, VA, MAY 17, 1864, RECEIVED THIS DAY OF CORP NORTH CO. “F” ONE DESERTER DANIEL DONOGHUE CO. “E” 9TH NY VOL ARTY, JOHN TAFFT, LIEUT-CMND CO. “E” 9TH NY VOL ARTY”. Although this shows Private Donoghue as a deserter, it could likely be a mistake.
