CDV is a chest-up view of Frederick H. Sibley. He is wearing a dark colored coat with shoulder boards.

The reverse has a photographer’s imprint which reads, “J.C. MOULTON, PHOTOGRAPHIC ARTIST, 159 MAIN STREET, FITCHBURG, -- MASS.”. Also present on reverse is a green tax stamp, which has been initialed.

Image is clear and the contrast is good. Surface has some light dirt from age. Image has yellowed with time.

Frederick H. Sibley was a resident of Fitchburg, MA where he worked as a tool maker. He enlisted at the age of 23, on August 22, 1861 as a 2nd Lieutenant, and was commissioned into Co. “I”, 36th MA Infantry. He was promoted to 1st Lieutenant on August 2, 1863. He also had service in Co. “B”, 15th MA Infantry. He died of disease on August 2, 1863 at Louisville, KY, and is buried in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Worcester, MA.      [sm]
