CDV is a full seated view of a young Union soldier named Franklin Clayton. The subject is posed next to a table seated in a chair. His legs are crossed and one arm rests on the table. Clayton wears a frock coat and vest with trousers that have been tinted light blue. His forage cap sits on the table next to his arm. One of the curtains behind him is tinted pink. Across the bottom of the mount in pencil is a period inscription that reads “PRIVATE FRANK CLAYTON.”
