Originally $200.00

Quantity Available: 1

Item Code: P10970

Image shows a young officer wearing a dark coat with 1st Lieutenant shoulder straps.

Image is clear and clean with good contrast. Bottom front of mount is marked BROWN…MILWAUKEE.

Reverse has a photographers imprint for the firm listed on the front but there is also a period pencil inscription that reads “LT. D. C. SMITH, A.D.C. MARCH 21ST 1863 / DEWITT CLINTON SMITH, RIPON, WIS. BULLY BOY-TIM EAN (?)”

Unfortunately there are two officers named Dewitt C. Smith who show as being in their 20’s as this fellow obviously is, one in the 1st Michigan Cavalry and one in the 21st New York Infantry. There are also two other officers by the same name whose ages are not listed. The subject of this image can be any of the four men listed here. [ad]
