Very nice decorative frame with period gutta-percha frame inside that surrounds a CDV of U.S. Grant. CDV is a three-quarter sitting view of Grant in uniform. He is wearing an officer’s frock coat with shoulder boards, trousers, vest, white shirt and cravat. Image is clean and clear with good contrast. Backmark is visible through glass on reverse of frame, and reads, “PHILADA. PHOTOGRAPHIC CO. CHESTNUT ST. PHILADELPHIA / 730”. [sm]
