Image is a three-quarter seated view of General Wadsworth wearing a dark colored double-breasted frock coat with shoulder boards, sash, sword belt and trousers. His sword rests on his lap, and he holds his gauntlet in his hand.

Image is clear and contrast is very good.

Backmark reads, “PUBLISHED BY E. ANTHONY, 501 BROADWAY, N.Y. / MANUFACTURER OF PHOTOGRAPHIC ALBUMS / FROM PHOTOGRAPHIC NEGATIVE IN BRADY’S NATIONAL PORTRAIT GALLERY”.

James Samuel Wadsworth (October 30, 1807 – May 8, 1864) was a philanthropist, politician, and a Union general in the Civil War. He was mortally wounded in battle during the Battle of the Wilderness of 1864.  [ad]
