Reverse bears back mark for E. ANTHONY FROM A BRADY NEGATIVE.
Born in New Hampshire in 1804 Pierce held office from 1853-1857. He was opposed to the Civil War and was a critic of the Lincoln Administration. Many suspected him of having Southern sympathies. He died in October of 1869 and is buried in Old North Cemetery, Concord, New Hampshire. [ad]
