Image shows one little girl standing by a chair on which a younger child sits. The girl that is standing wears a light dress with ribbons tied into bows at her shoulders and another tied into a rosette at her waist. The younger child is being held still and upright by the older girl. The little one wears a white dress with a small ribbon near the chest. At the base of the chair is a black and white toy pony.

Reverse has a period ink inscription that reads “MARY BOWERS + ANNA TAYLOR WARREN AGED 4 ½ YEARS + ANNA 8 MONTHS. TROY JUNE 23RD 1864.”

Anna Taylor Warren was born in Troy, NY in October 1863, the daughter of George S. Bowers and Eugenia Taylor Warren. In April 1885 she married Henry Casimir de Rham in Troy. Anna died at the young age of 29 in November 1892 in Warren County, NY, and is buried in Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY. Her husband died in 1916. They had no children.

The only firm information found on Mary Bowers is in the 1880 census. She was born about 1860 in Troy, NY. At the time of the census she was living in Troy and worked as a household servant.  Further research certainly a possibility.

Image is clean with excellent contrast.

Comes housed in a mat that looks like an album page.  [ad/ld]
