This full standing image shows a well-dressed gentleman with his back to the camera. This is a rather unusual image and was probably produced for advertising purposes, perhaps for a tailor.
The subject stands with one arm resting on the back of a chair which is also facing away from the camera. The subject wears a dark “stove-pipe” top hat, a dark coat with a pleated back skirt and two cloth covered buttons at the waist and light trousers.
The reverse side of the mount has moderate to heavy surface dirt and a photographer’s imprint for N.A. & R.A. MOORE… CORNER OF TRUMBULL AND ASYLUM ST. …. This photographer was located in Hartford, Connecticut.
The condition of image could be better. There are several ink spots and stains. At least two of these appear on the subject’s waist. Also the paper surface appears to have a moderate amount of surface dirt. Despite these blemishes all details are visible and the image is still very interesting for its unusual content.
