Image shows an officer posed by a podium on which his kepi rests. The subject is posed with his right hand thrust in his coat and his left arm folded across his stomach. He wears a dark frock coat with shoulder straps with a bowtie and white shirt. He stands in front of a painted backdrop of a moss tree.
A close inspection of the forage cap on the podium shows an infantry hunting horn on the front with a number 2 visible at center. There is another number in front of the “2” but it is obscured by a blemish on the photo. The top of the kepi also has what looks to be trefoil made of a single cord.
Image is clear and clean with good contrast.
Reverse has a photographer’s imprint for HENRY M. WELLS…. CAMBRIDGE, N.Y.
