Three-quarter seated view of a Navy officer wearing a dark blue double-breasted frock coat with matching trousers. On his head is a Navy visor cap with the engineer’s insignia in a wreath at front center. Subject is posed with one had thrust in his coat.
Image is clear with good contrast. There is some light surface dirt and dark staining on the mount.
Reverse has some light foxing and a nice photographer’s imprint of an eagle with riband in a wreath. Riband reads “MRS. MOORE 421 CANAL ST” with a period ink notation “N. YORK.” [ad]
