Image is a waist-up view of a bearded union officer wearing a shell jacket with shoulder straps. Bottom of mount is labeled with photographer’s imprint, “GAGE, ST. JOHNSBURY, VT.”. There is a pencil inscription that reads, “Should be darker here”, where the image has faded at lower left corner.
Image is clear and the contrast is very good. Light surface dirt is present. Image has yellowed with time.
Reverse has a backmark that reads, “F.B. GAGE ST. JOHNSBURY, VT”. [sm]
